Thousands of people travel on package holidays to the clubs in Ibiza, the headquarters of dance music. Tourists flock here to feed on the atmosphere of thousands of clubbers partying hard to the latest dance anthems. The 5 biggest clubs on the island are Amnesia, Space, Privilege, Pacha and Eden, with smaller venues specialising in different musical genres.
On either side of the main highway between San Antonio and Ibiza Town you’ll find Amnesia and Privilege. The reputation of the oldest club on the island, Amnesia ensures that clubbers, here on cheap holidays, have it on their list of places to go. Dancers will be soaked by the ice cannons, which can erupt at any time, and the foam parties are one of the main attractions here.
The biggest club in the world is Privilege, which is in the Guinness Book of Records and holds 10,000 clubbers on any night. There is a massive swimming pool at the centre of the main room, with the DJ playing. It is tradition that as the sun rises, everyone jumps into the pool.
Opening its doors 7 nights a week for 22 hours per day, ‘Space’ is right next to the Water Park at Playa d’en Bossa. In the main room, house music predominates, whilst more ambient sounds play on the massive terrace. The two rooms, Terraza and Discoteca now have stunning visuals and crystal clear sounds after some refurbishment. The club is located right underneath the flight path of the planes landing at the airport.
Next to another club, Es Paradis, you’ll find ‘Eden’ right in the middle of San Antonio. With advice from DJs Pete Tong and Judge Jules, this new ‘super’ club has been extensively refurbished. It now has 15 bars, a restaurant, sushi bar, shop and open-air terraces overlooking Ibiza Town. Professional dancers do 15 minute dance stints on their podiums and the 4 dance areas attract many tourists on their holidays.
